Tired of looking for foods that you can eat without bothering your braces? The food restrictions for people with braces can be frustrating. But don’t be bothered, get creative. This magnificent meat loaf recipe is one great idea to get you cooking!

There are an endless variety of meat loaves that are good eatin’ hot or cold. For a crusty loaf, shape the meat and bake in a shallow pan. A moister loaf is made by cooking in a loaf pan, which may be lined with heavy waxed paper, leaving the edges sticking out above the loaf to facilitate the removal of the loaf from the pan. Dressing may be baked between layers of the ground meat. Tomato, mushroom, vegetable or other canned soup may be used for basting any meat loaf, or strips of bacon or salt pork may be placed over the top.

INGREDIENTS:
-1 egg
-¾ cup milk
-1 cup dried bread crumbs
-2 pounds ground beef
-2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
-2 teaspoons salt
-¼ teaspoon pepper
-¼ cup ketchup or chili sauce

DIRECTIONS:
Combine egg and milk; add bread crumbs and soak 10 minutes.

Add beef, onion, salt and pepper; mix lightly. Do not pack.

Place in a loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a shallow baking pan. Spread ketchup on top.

Bake in a moderate oven (350° F.) about 1 hour.
